- Once you have passed the credential exam you may recertify on the Professional Development page. A RAPS account login is necessary to access this page.
- Click the "Log your PD" button to add your earned credits. Enter the details about the specific activity. A total of 36 credits or more credits worth of recertification points are required within the recertification period, defined as the three years directly prior to your certification expiration date.
- To view the credits that have been entered, scroll down to see your credits listed below the logged credits area on the CE listing page.
- Once you have entered your 36+ credits, you're ready to move on to the final step - paying the recertification fee. On the My RAPS dashboard page, you should see a button for 'Recertify now'. You may purchase the recertification product to complete the

- Before you checkout, you will be asked to re-read privacy policy and code of ethics and agree to both.
- Once you've agreed to the code of ethics and privacy policy, you should be able to proceed through the remainder of the checkout process.
You're all done! Your submission will be reviewed and you will receive a confirmation email when the review is complete. RAPS staff reviews applications as quickly as possible; please allow 2-3 weeks for processing. How often do I need to recertify?
RAC credential holders must recertify every three years.
How many recertification credits do I need?
You must earn 36 professional development credits during each three year recertification cycle.
I have more than one RAC credential. Do I need 36 credits for each credential?
No. Individuals holding multiple RAC credentials are only required to submit one recertification application with a total of 36 credits.
What activities qualify for recertification credit?
Eligible activities may include:
- Continuing education and training
- Online learning programs
- University courses
- Speaking engagements
- Educational program planning
- Published articles or books
- Professional volunteer service
- Leadership roles in professional organizations

Should I keep documentation of my activities?
Yes. Although supporting documentation is not required when you submit your application, certification holders should maintain records of all completed activities in case they are selected for audit.
Can I track activities throughout my recertification cycle?
You can track your recertification activities and credits through your My RAPS profile by selecting Log RAC/RCC Credits from the My RAPS menu. Supporting documentation should be retained for activities reported as part of your recertification application.
What happens if I am selected for audit?
The RAC Program Office audits a percentage of recertification applications. If selected, you will be required to provide documentation supporting the activities reported on your application.
What happens if I do not recertify by my deadline?
Individuals who do not meet recertification requirements or fail to submit a completed recertification application may have their RAC status revoked and be removed from the public directory of RAC credential holders.
Can my RAC credential be reinstated?
Yes. RAC credentials may be reinstated within one year of the expiration date if all recertification requirements, fees, and applicable late fees are satisfied. After one year, candidates must retake an RAC examination to regain certification.
Is there a waiver process?
A temporary waiver may be considered in certain circumstances, including:
- Not currently holding a paid position related to the regulatory profession.
- Full time public service.
- Serious illness or disability.
Requests must be submitted in writing before the certification expiration date.
What is RAC Emeritus status?
RAC credential holders who are over age 60, retired from professional practice, and wish to remain affiliated with the certification program may apply for RAC Emeritus status. If approved, individuals may use the RAC Emeritus designation.
